The Les Paul recipe for sustain – mahogany body with maple top
Gibson’s Les Paul Tribute Future gives you the robust sustain you need for hot liquid solos and massive power chords. What’s Gibson’s secret? A major part of the Les Paul’s tonewood recipe is the fusion of a maple top on a mahogany body. This combination is largely responsible for the legendary Les Paul sound – as well the LP’s reputation for being rather heavy. But fear not! Gibson’s modern weight relief has been scientifically applied to this ‘Paul – giving you all the sustain, without the pain. Now you can play marathon gigs without next-day visits to the chiropractor. The Gibson Les Paul Tribute Future – it’s what rock dreams are made of.
’57 Classic humbuckers give you amazing tonal versatility, power, and sustain
Gibson Custom’s Les Paul Tribute Future is fitted with a pair of PAF-style ’57 Classic humbuckers. These pickups sport authentic Alnico II magnets, and are wound with 42-AWG enamel-coated wire – just like the originals. The coils are wax potted to ward off microphonic squeal, making them the perfect pups for your high-gain excesses. Classically routed through independent volume and tone controls, this dynamic duo serves up articulate, warm voicings from the neck position, soaring liquid bridge tones, and a broad range of sweet crunch in between.
’60s Asymmetrical Profile neck: fast and amazingly comfortable
The Gibson Les Paul Tribute Future sports a comfortable, fast-action neck with an asymmetrical ’60s profile. Early Les Paul guitars had huge “tree-trunk” necks, but beginning in 1959, the company began slimming the neck down to a more comfortable size. By 1960, this evolved into a design Gibson called the Slim Taper neck. These slender necks promoted playing speed while reducing player fatigue, and have proved to be some of the most popular Les Paul necks ever made. But now, Gibson had taken it a step further with an slightly asymmetrical neck carve, for what may be the most comfortable – and ergonomic – neck they’ve ever produced. Whether you’re chording down low or riffing up high, the Les Paul Tribute Future’s neck – with its rosewood fingerboard and classic trapezoid inlays – always feels just right!
